Faith for Healing

Healing Faith

Feb 21,2009

Healing takes place in an atmosphere of FAITH
Lesson Emphasis *** Hebrews 11:6

  • 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

In each transaction there is a medium of exchange. This truth is based on the pyridine that every interaction is a transaction. Relationship means mutual exchange and interchange.
For dogs and people the medium of exchange is a pet and an "atta-boy". In essence this is the thing that the dog gets from his people that he needs and that motivates him is the "atta-boys". For people a medium of exchange is sometimes praise, and sometimes Money. For Ladies the medium of exchange is attention. But for God the medium of exchange is Faith. With out this medium of exchange it is impossible to please God.

The essence of this lesson centers on the gift of healing that Jesus used to heal people. In most of the examples of healing in the New Testament, the scriptures note the people being healed demonstrated the faith that became the basis for the gift to operate. Their faith implied their permission to permit the healing power of Jesus of operate. Without it nothing would take place. As it is the whole world is in the same place as they would be without the healing power of God. There are seventeen distinct examples or situations where Jesus caused a miracle healing to take place. In fourteen of these the faith of the people being healed is noted. In two of the other three the compassion of the Lord is mentioned as having healed them. It seems that generally sick people want to be healed, wish for prayer, and sometimes even hope for this to happen for them. But to really lean on the power of the Lord and nothing else to be healed is a different matter. Is a person really ready to permit, even in his own mind and heart, the reputation of the Lord to rest on this particular example of God's healing answer.
I have found that three things exist in places where miracles toke place:A seed, a need, and a tangible quality of faith. Faith is defined as the substance of things hoped for the evidence of those things not seen.

    Faith
    What is Faith

Hebrews 11:1 ¶ Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Please note that everything about God is NOW Hope is off in the future, memory paints it's murals in the rooms of our past! The future is guaranteed to no one. We do have our now! For beginners,God of all eternity identified himself to Moses as I am that I AM!

    Faith
    How Does Faith Come

Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Faith does come and once it comes it can grow or increase. hearing seems to be the critical element. But what a person is listening to makes a huge difference. Listening to the WORD of God is the Thing!

    Hebrews 11:6

impossible to please God without faith

6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

    Back

    I am that I AM!

Exodus 3:14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt you say unto the children of Israel, I AM has sent me to you.

In a world where every one proclaims his own self identity, God contrasts himself as that I AM
He seems to be saying that He is the ever present one, for ever present tense.

    Healing fulfilled Scripture

Matthew 8:14 ¶ And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid, and sick of a fever.
Matthew 8:15 And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.
Matthew 8:16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:
Matthew 8:17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

Faith that is real faith is faith in God and by reference his Word as written in scriptures. In order to trust a person you start by trusting in what he says. You come to a place where you really believe that what will happen is predictable by you and that he really do what you have a right to expect him to do. This right to rely on what you think that he will do must of necessity come form something that he did or said
    that he would do.

    Matthew 9:2-8
  • 2 And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.

  • 3 And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemes.

  • 4 And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?

  • 5 For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?

  • 6 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then Said he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto your house.

  • 7 And he arose, and departed to his house.

  • 8 But when the multitudes saw it, they marveled, and glorified God, which had given such power to men.

  • In this case the Faith mentioned was of the friends demonstrated by tearing the roofing off of the house. They made a hole wide enough to drop him and his litter into the room. This could not have been kosher in any society. Maybe the sins forgiven were there violations. In few cases of Jesus healing actions were sins forgiven required. As one meditated on the verses thinking about beggars on the street and their attendant irritation, these friends may have even challenged Jesus to put up or shut up. In a manner of speaking the challenge was answered by healing. Not to be missed in the example is the faith manifested by obiedance: the beggar had to get up, which he had never done, and pick up his bed, which he had also never done, else he could not be healed. Until he made an attempt to obey he was not healed. The power to heal came in stages or waves across the body of the lame man. In a time sequence first the arm reachinmg out, then the body weight shift. He must have been stiff after so much immobility. And for strength to come into the muscles must have been a sight. Little by little the cracks of the joints and the clicks of the bones, the man began to arise. At this point nothing was too difficult for Jesus. But the man had his part in the exchange.

Is It God's Will to heal me?

Only one place in the Christian New Testament did the question ever appear:
Matthew 8:2 And, behold, there came a leper and worshiped him, saying, Lord, if you will, thou cant make me clean.
3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
A second account of the same incident in
Mark1:40 ¶ And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If you will, you can make me clean.
41 And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and said unto him, I will; be clean.
42 And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.

By inference there exist many evidences as to God's will and Healing: A chief example
Exodus 15:26 And said, If you will diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and will give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon you, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that heals you.
Here God Identifies his name as our Healer!

Psalm 1 ¶ A Psalm of David. Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
    3 Who forgives all thine iniquities; who heals all your diseases;
    4 Who redeems thy life from destruction; who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies;
5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
